The breed can be traced back over two hundred years. Indeed, the Observer's Book of Farm Animals (1976) states that 'in the 18th century the Eppynt Mountain in Wales were inhabited by a specklefaced variety of sheep of good body conformation'.
Description
- Speckled face and legs of grey, brown or black
- Face and legs clean of wool
- A heavy boned hill sheep which is stocky, sturdy in stature
- Ewes polled, rams usually horned
